The Alonso Menenedez brand was created by Félix Menendez in 1980 to honor his father. Its cigars feature a medium-strength blend with a pronounced flavor, using Connecticut, Mata Fina, and Cubra wrappers, and Mata Fina and Mata Norte fillers, available in sizes such as Double Corona, Robusto, Corona, and Gran Corona. In 2018, the Alonso Del Patron line was launched by Félix and Arturo, featuring Robusto and Corona sizes, followed by the Gran Corona in 2019. Mata Fina: Long and wide leaves, aromatic, light, with a unique flavor of medium intensity and slightly spicy. This variety is grown in the Recôncavo Baiano, where the climate and soil conditions are favorable. Locations with the highest number of producers: Cruz das Almas, Cabeceira do Paraguaçu, Muritiba, Sapeaçu, and Gov. Mangabeira.
Mata Norte: Smaller leaves, good strength, intense and sweet flavor. The producers of this variety are located in drier regions, with higher sun exposure and less humidity, resulting in stronger flavor, pronounced taste, and subtle sweetness. Locations with the highest number of producers: Irará, Conceição do Jacuípe, Coração de Maria, Teodoro Sampaio, Ouriçangas, and Água Fria.
